Birding In Lufkin
Thanks to over 807 square miles of gently rolling hills, Angelina County is a great place for birding.
With mixed pine hardwood forests, Sam Rayburn Reservoir, pastures, and other grassy areas dotting the Pineywoods landscape, there is a plethora of avian habitats for you to discover and explore.
Our birding checklist is based on sightings collected over a thirty-five year period by a number of avid bird watching individuals. There are 293 species listed with an AOU Checklist 7th Edition ordering (47th Supplement).
